"(AG=96) Deep golden-yellow. Explosive aromas of smoky and lemony botrytis, peach pie, saffron, caramel, toffee and flowers. Seamless and dense but very juicy too, with the telltale vibrant acidity of the vintage lifting the rich tropical fruit and honey flavors on the long back end. Magically mouthcoating and sweetly spicy, this is one of the best sweet Gew’_rztraminers IŠ—Ève tasted in some time. About three-quarters of the grapes were hit by noble rot, but Bott always keeps some fresh berries in the mix to help maintain acidity. Thanks to the higher level of noble rot, this wine is deeper and more complex than the Schloessreben SGN. (JS=94) A wine with wonderful balance and intensity in addition to a dense and powerful palate that shows lots of dried fruit and spice character, before ending on a persistent sweet and flavorful finish. Made from biodynamically grown grapes. Drink now. (RP=92) The golden-colored 2008 Gewurztraminer Grand Cru Sonnenglanz Selection de Grains Nobles has a clear, precise and intensely fruity but also pure, fresh and spicy bouquet of ripe and almost healthy Gewurztraminer grapes along with some honey and raisin flavors from the botrytisized berries. Sweet and piquant on the first palate this is a very elegant and delicate though concentrated and firmly structured SGN with 11% alcohol and a persistent mineral and almost dry (not drying!) finish. This is surely not a liqueur-style, but is a very stimulating, gastronomic table wine for very special dishes."
