(JS=91-92) Dense and linear with a pretty finish of currants, crushed stones, cement and berries. Full-bodied, tight and tannic. Very attractive. (AG=90) The 2016 De Cruzeau offers slightly smudged strawberry and blackberry fruit on the nose, laced with bay and wild heather. The palate is medium-bodied, quite sappy and nicely balanced. There is a touch of simplicity toward the finish, but this straightforwardness is an attribute. Enjoy over the next 8 to 10 years. (WS=88) Forthright, offering a sleek damson plum, cherry preserves and red currant core laced with light savory flavors and iron notes. A touch austere in the end, with a pinch of cedar detail on the finish. Best from 2021 through 2027. 22,500 cases made. (RP=87) The 2016 Cruzeau has a medium garnet-purple color with warm red and black plums and black cherries scents with underbrush and bay leaves in the background. Medium-bodied and chewy, with a good core of expressive red and black fruits, it has an earthy finish.
